Glass Shadow

Glass Shadow

Does anybody know why this plane of glass is casting such a strong shadow? The closer I move the glass to the watch face the darker it becomes. Since glass is supposed to be transparent I really don't understand why it should cast a shadow at all? Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, Frank. I think the shadow is a bit lighter but still there. Am I doing something else wrong?

Thanks
Terry

Any additional light sources to check for shadow-> "raytrace+trans" settings?
BTW: 1 and 1 at the diffuse&specular scatterings should normally work.

Cheers
Frank

Yes, Frank, shadow-> "raytrace+trans" setting correct. I've attached the file if you'd like to take a look? HDRI is entrance_hall_pano.hdr

I really have no idea what's wrong. Just when I think I'm getting somewhere I hit a brick wall.

Thanks
Terry

Hi Terry.
Check "background" in the properties of the HDRI tag and try again.

Cheers
Frank

Thank you, Frank, you are an excellent chap. You know I was playing around with the background tag in the HDRI, I know this from my wine glass. But I must have switched it on and off so many times trying to get it right it somehow got left off. I'll get it right one of these days. :)

Thanks again :icon_thumbup:
