Normal Move as a Modifier

Normal Move as a Modifier

I'd like to request a Normal Move modifier.
It would be like a 'Shell Modifier' but moves a mesh along a positive normal direction.

Possible?

Thanks, Shift Studio.

I'd like to ask for this again and for it to be able to take a negative number (or possibly include a normal flip)

Thanks for considering!
--shift studio.

At least you can try the "Morph-tag" to record the normal move:

I think the envisaged use-case was as part of a modifier chain, which makes the morph trick less useful.

This is something that could be implemented as a script.

There is a trick to achieve that:

Adding a transform modifier with scale values -1/1/1 will flip the normals of an object, even a parametric one, wich is useful for terrains or having a cam inside the box etc.

Adding the crumple modifier (frec.0) then will move faces along the normals in the opposite direction.

To restore normal orientation another transform modifier with -1/1/1 scale is needed.

Fun fact: transform gizmo turns dark

I find the morph-tag works quite well in conjunction with a modifier chain:

you three are right - I am thinking to use the proposed modifier in a modifier chain.
I'll give both a try. Missoversaturated, yours appeals to me more as I'm less familiar with the morph tag though.

Now for the wish, the functionality in one modifier.
