a primitive tree
here is a tree i made in C3D, using primitive volumes.
A green terrain,
a cylinder with Taper modifier applied to it,
and brown mable material, for the trunk
And here's the trick for the foliage :
i used 2 or 3 balls, each with the 'build' modifier applied
for type, choose halton, experiment with the percentage...
For a slight irregularity, you can add a displace modifier,
using an bumpy greyscale image,
and even a taper modifier, to elongate all of the green part.
I think the result is a quite nice, stylized tree.
However, i suspect it is not render-friendly.
Who else has tricks or tips for trees/foliage ?
