Newbie: How do I import a material?

Hi,

I can't see how to import a material that has been provided on these forums :-(

The file has a ".c3dmat" extension.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome.
First I´d like to say that it´d be much easier if one provides a simple scene containing that material as a zipped jas file from where one can safe the texture/material much simpler.
So you have to go here:
mac/HD/User/Library/ApplicationSupoort/Cheetah3d/Materials ->etc
and put it in a particular folder.

Cheers
Frank

I'd have to say it's counter-intuitive.

  • Dragging it into your document window should work
  • File > Import should let you pull it into scene
  • Double-clicking it in Finder should also do something useful

But as Frank says, right now you need to import it into the material library manually.

Another Material Question

I save a material from the material window to a folder on my hard-drive.
How do I open it in a new Cheetah 3D file?
It is greyed out when choosing import from the C3D file menu and there is no open in the material window.
