Splinar Doodlings #1

If any newbies can use any of those for ideas, feel free.
In most cases I have applied Todd Rogers´ Loft script (?, sorry I renamed that, but I think that was the original .JS name). Attention: When using the script, do not interpolate between splines which share a common tangential point. This seems to kick off an ∞ loop.

Actually, there is one surface which I find quite interesting, as it could be seen as an evolution of cocentric spheres. Serendipitously, I may have found a solution to a geometrical problem I have pondered for months   :D

Hi Helmut, I enjoy your test row but the pics are just a little too small to look at the settings, maybe 100 pixels more make it more readable?!

Don't stop yet, it's inspiring :icon_thumbup:

OK, I´ll post some larger screen shots / possibly zips when I get around to it (which should be tomorrow, CET).
As a bonus you receive a screen shot of the mysterious Toroidal Möbius Cube, a 3D object with a single edge curved in the shape of a torus knot (I think).
Who needs vertices on a cube?

Hi Helmut, I enjoy working with the loft script too and I seem to have
a later version than the one available in the sticky master list of
scripts. Unfortunatly I can't seem to find it anymore. It also had a tag script to use
along with it, but I never figured out how to use that part of it.

I also noticed the script set the smoothing to flat, for that
venetian blind effect... hey where those invented in Venice...
Anyway I tried to hack the script to set the smoothing to constraint
but all I did was make it say Constrained but it was still Flat,
and I have to select Flat to get Constrained.
So I need a fresh copy to start again.

Möbius Cube 2

As pointed out by Frank, there are alternatives for that. Using a box plus 2 modifiers (bend & twist) gives the identical result without whacky artifacts.
Thank you, Frank

Hi Helmut.
I´m not sure about your splinecal set-up.
I made this from one rectangle + one circle spline using the rotation property at the sweep-creator. (There will be a gap at the rotation point - easy fix via bridge.)
I like these little iconographical gems.

Cheers
Frank

In a smallish biotop of my apartment I have discovered a new species. In honour of an esteemed regular it will be known as Pömpulus Hanseaticus Frankensis to the scientific community. Sorry, my Latin is a bit rusty after 50 years of daily non-use
Use with the Loft script (my scripts are organized in stacks of subfolders) and run animation.

There is a geometrical difference between the twisted tori, depending on the multiplicity of the 90° twists:
90° twist: the resulting torus has a single face and a single edge (which are a torus knots)
180° twist: the resulting torus has two faces and two edges (which are torus helices)
270° twist: etc

You will miss a lot of things since then: Physics; Advanced selection tools (edge-loop etc). the improved sweep-tool and many more.

Cheers
Frank

Edge loop would be nice. Martin gave me a copy of the latest (for the pirate) but I never used it, I get stuck in my ways. But I will.

Cheers
