Posterize image in node editor

I would like to posterize a grayscale image in the node editor, and I need to animate the posterize level. This will be used as a specular mask. Can anybody help with a method for posterizing?

A Gradient Node, set to Step works.

Thanks unc, I wasn't sure if I could figure this one out, but I never know until I start testing.

I thought it would be one of the Math Nodes, most of which I don't understand.

So I started there, testing one at a time. Then it dawned
on me that the Gradient Node is a filter, so I tried that.
