organizing duplicates

organizing duplicates

Hi,

I'm assembling a scene that uses lots of duplicate objects. I copy and paste, and this works just fine. However, my materials list is full of a duplicate material for each copy of the object. Is there some way I can copy objects so that they will refer to just one set of materials in the list? And then I could change the copied objects materials all at once instead of one at a time?

(example: these objects are windows and frames. I decide I want to change the transparancy or reflection. Do I have to do each one individually?)

Hi,
that is very starnge. Normally when you copy and paste a objects the materials won't be dublicated. Cheetah3D tests is there is already a metarial available which has the same properties. If no such material is available it will create one with the properties of the pasted object.

So it shouldn't be a problem to modify the material of all windows at once, since they are all linked to the same material.
