Creating a tube

Creating a tube

I am new to Cheetah although I have used Infini D in the past. I need to create a steel tube shaped to form the base of a table. Diameter of the tube would be about 25mm. I have tried to do this using the help files in Cheetah but I guess I am lazy and thought someone may be able to provide a liitle help.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi,
first of all welcome to Cheetah3D. :D
To make a tube you have to use the "Sweep" creator object. Check out the section of the "Sweep" object in the Cheetah3D documentation. For creating the rail splines you have to use the "Create Spline" tool. For the tube profile you can use the "Circle" object.
Check out the screenshot below to see how it should work.

Hi Scooter,
Hi Martin,

such simple things don´t need any splinework. :p Have a look:

With kindest regards

Hi Frank,
that's an really interesting alternative. I think it is even faster than my method.
Just one comment. When you use the spline method you can also influence the polygon count. Just increase the "approximation" value of the spline objects to get a mesh with a lower polygon count.

Hi Martin,
Thanx a lot. This is pretty cool to know. I must have a closer look. So much to discover.

Thanx again - great help.

Frank - polycounter
