3DMF - Moving around a model

3DMF - Moving around a model

One thing that I have been using and that can be handy for other users :

- export your Cheetah3D model using the 3DMF format
- use a program like 3DMF Viewer

and you can fly over/around your model in real time. Just be careful with the size/details of the model in order to keep smooth movements.

Of course you can always import a .3ds file from Sketchup into Cheetah3D and then export a 3DMF file to fly around.

What is the status of the 3dmf format. I tried working with vrml with clients and it was so poorly implemented and the viewers varied so much that it was impossible to use with any consistency.

How are you using it Francois?

I'm not sure what you mean by "status". But I think the 3DMF format is not being promoted/developed anymore. And this is different from VRML. It's more or less like the orbit tool in SU or Cheetah3D.
I really don't use this anymore since there is now a viewer for Sketchup. But by using a 3DMF viewer you can achieve the same effect with Cheetah3D files.
