Dear uncle808us

Not sure if this is kinda of what you're after

If so rather than explain, I have uploaded 3 jas files that will show each step
at http://www.bocchinelli.com/wicker.zip (9.2megs)

Hi Uncle
Hi Luke.

Not a "traditional" kind of wicker, but it´s just for the principles and a very quick hack.

With kindest regards
Frank

How did you do it?

I think you would model it as polygons and then add a poly2spline script. Once you have a spline just attach the sweep modifier and your good to go.
Nice renderings all, btw.

Greg

P.S. nice to see you back online uncle 808:icon_thumbup:

How did you do it?

Start with a 4-sided cylinder (=a diamond), then use chain and array modifiers to get a cylindrical grid of diamonds. Then use Boolean subtract with a thin-walled torus to get the basic basket. Then distort the lot before finishing up with a subdivision modifier to round the egdes.

I didn't have time to do a base, though...

Basket after Frank's help.

:icon_thumbup: Thanks Frank you are amazing! I could follow your file very easily. It was just what I wanted to learn.
