Point Slide Snapping (to perpendicular)

Hi. I'd like to see some added functionality to the Point Slide tool.

In particular, when I slide a point along an edge, it would be helpful if the point would snap to the position where two edges are perpendicular to each other. Please see the attached image to clarify my description of the request.

This is relatively simple to achieve while the Transform-tool´s Orientation is set to Normal and Component-Snapping is enabled:
But Point slide has some surprise implemented while holding shift key down.
