Cheetah to Torque

Ok, I know there is no direct exporter from C3d to .dts (unless the post I looked at was outdated, in which case could someone please point me to where I can find it), regardless, I would still like to try and take advantage of the fantastic C3d capabilities and turn it into a great gaming experience aswell. I have tried to export models from in .obj format and load them into blender, from where there is supposed to be a .dts exporter, I installed it, but it doesnt seem to work. From skimming the web it looks like most of the other exporters are for programs that run on windows only :( , and my access to a pc is rather limited. So...is there an easy way for a mac lover to convert something made in C3d to .dts?

Providing this is possible...I am curious about how to set up a "mount point" on my model (that obviously will be read by the torque), is it similar to a skeleton joint or something? how do I specify it?

Thanks

I guess the apps i'm using might be a little outdated. I'm using the torque showtool to view existing models in the game I am attempting to design for. They are .dts and showtool only seems to be able to read .dts. I just tried the fbx, but It wont read it. :frown:

I thought torque x could use fbx?

Hi,
that's good to know. FBX support was mentioned in a developer blog a log time ago but since then I haven't hearned anything about the release of that feature. Where have you found that?

Bye,
Martin

Hi Martin,
Here's the announcement: http://www.garagegames.com/products/torque/x/

and here's the quote:
Torque X 2.0 also works with Visual C# Express and all variations of Visual Studio 2005 on Windows XP and Vista. Torque X 2.0 can load and render a variety of 3D model formats, including GarageGames' .dts, .x, .fbx, and .xsi model formats. Animation support for other formats is in the works.

This is no help to you in an immediate sense, but be sure to give the unity demo a spin sometime:

Its really nice to use, although a bit of a teenager in some ways, but a sensible teenager, so it has a good future ahead of it.

Cheers, see you round
