2d 'southpark' style animation

Has anyone tried this type of thing in cheetah? I know southpark animators use maya 3d even though it's in a cut out 2d style

I don't think so (at least no one has posted anything that I know of), but I can't see any reason why you couldn't do something similar in Cheetah?

I'd like to see the results if you have a go.

The SouthPark TV series was done using 3D software from day 1. (The Santa vs. Jesus short that got them the gig was done with pieces of paper.)

When you think about keeping track of a bazillion pieces of paper, it makes a lot of sense. They also aim for a lead time of "idea to finished show" of something like 6 weeks (so they can be topical) -- which is unheard of for an animated show. Network live action TV shows go from pre-production through to post-production in 3-6 weeks (with three shows, one in each stage, at a time); by contrast, an episode of The Simpsons takes over six months.

I read it already ... I must have misremembered that detail. In any event, they use 3d to minimize lead time, and the results are pretty amazing.

Six days is amazing ... it takes that long to *shoot* a live action show (that doesn't even cover pre- and post-, let alone writing time) ... so I'm guessing that's an absolute minimum assuming they want to rush something out and pull out all the stops.
