Change Objects Z axis direction 180 degree

Hello,

I'm pretty fresh to Cheetah3D. Forgive me this Question ;).

I have imported an 3Ds Car object. Changed a few things but i can't find how to change the Z direction from my object. The arrow from the Z axis is pointing towards the back wheels. I want to change this that the arrow is pointing towards the front wheels. I need this direction of the Z axis inside an game engine (Unity3D).

Thanks for helping out.

Hi.
If your model comes in many parts group them and rotate the group towards the desired axis. Call "Coord System" from the "Tool menu", select part by part and "burn transform" by clicking "OK".

Frank,

I have tried the given suggestion but it didn't doe the trick ;-). If i rotate the group on the local coordinate system then the local axis of the objects rotate with them. However if i rotate around the global coordinate system then the axis are correct. But i can only burn the local coordinate system to the objects.

So can you post or send the file with a screenshot/briefing what you´re after and I´m pretty sure we got it to work? ;)

Hello,

Sorry for the delay but my bed was for a few days more comfortable then the sitting behind my MAC .

i have made a few screen-shots:

I want to change the local Z axis direction that the positive Z axis is pointing toward the motor hood.

If i rotate around the local coordinate system then the hole pivot is rotating in the same direction(logic i guess).

Now lets change the coordinate space to global.

Rotate the group 180 degree.

If i want to burn the global coordinates than its jumping back to the local coordinate system.

What I'm doing wrong here?

You can't change the coordinate system of a folder. Just create a new folder at 0,0,0 with no rotation and drag the contents of your old folder into the new folder and delete the old folder.

Where do I create an Empty folder? In the Object browser I can create an Group. If i look at the properties than that group is called an folder!

The Cheetah help says that folders (groups?) can have an sub coordinate system. But nowhere is told how to create an an empty folder.

If you provide me an email address than i will send you the project.

Peter.
