index of refraction question...

In my tests I noticed in V5 that all new materials imported from other programs ( like Scetchup ) default to am index of 1,5 ? is this intentional and if so why ?

I set the IOR to something bigger than 1.0 so that some fresnel effect gets visible if fresnel is turned on. I got quite some reports that fresnel doesn't work since they stilled used the default 1.0 as IOR. But if that is a problem for you I can turn back to the old 1.0. No problem.
