tiff pictures in the forum

i think its pretty stupied you cant upload tiff pictures in the forum, its c3ds normal format for saving pictures :p

TIFFs are huge. Save as JPG and then post. That said -- C3D's JPGs are huge because they're 100% quality.

Hi,
as far as I know can't all browsers display tiff files. At least some years ago IE couldn't display tiff files. So tiff files are always a bad idea for the www. PNG or JPG are much better.

Bye,
Martin

The forum limits have nothing to do with the web. Assuming the administrator can dictate the file size types and limits, this could be fixed to some degree. That said, you wouldn't want to overload your server storage with huge image files.

Use jpgs for most of your work, unless you're displaying something that has a transparent background, etc. You may even have to open your render in Preview and re-save it in the same format at lesser quality. Most of the time, you can get the same visual quality at a smaller size.

TIFF images are displayed via the QuickTime plugin (if available). On Macs this is just transparent (since all Macs since 1992 have had QuickTime installed by default).

I have only ever used IE at work, always used Opera or Firefox (or Navigator when it existed), so never had the problem.

It does pose and interesting question though, this is a forum for a Mac only application, so should the admin(s) worry about IE viewing?
I think, reluctantly, I would say yes, just because IE isint a good web citizen, dosnt me the forum cant be.

Personally I wouldnt want to up load a tiff, png or jpeg for upload.

Hi,
tiff images are enabled by default in the vbulleting forum software. I disabled them some years ago due to a user request since tiff images can't be viewed in IE. At least at that time. So it was not my idea but it made sense to me.

The forum should be viewable by all people. Also by IE users.

Bye,
Martin

P.S. Can IE display tiffs without any plug-ins today?
